Is your team made up of managers or leaders?
Is there really a difference? After all, managers are the leaders of your organization, right? This may be true. However, a manager is someone who stands out in managing operations. He has a vital role in the organization, but he does not necessarily possess the qualities traditionally associated with leadership such as charisma and influence. It is rather thanks to a manager that the processes run smoothly.
Leaders, on the other hand, are creators. Creators of positive energy who know how to influence people to achieve a desired result thanks to their passion. Their personality, approach and experience are key factors in their success. A leader does not necessarily find himself in a managerial role, because the execution of a plan requires attention to detail. Rather, the leader is the one who rallies the troops with enthusiasm to create momentum, a wind of energy that will motivate the team to move forward. Observe a leader and you will see that they have a specific vision, and the ability to combine efforts to create something new.
Now you have a choice: develop your managers into leaders or your leaders into managers? Is it possible ? The good news is that yes, absolutely, managers can become leaders and vice versa. Thanks to behavioral tools, we know how to better evaluate profiles to identify the strengths and natural tendencies of individuals, and develop their skills accordingly. When a manager is supported by a coach, the development of their leadership skills can be done while maintaining their expertise and naturalness.
What if one of them couldn’t become a manager and leader? No need to worry too much. Managers and leaders have indispensable roles in a business, large or small. It is about identifying the strengths and talents of each individual to exploit their potential to the maximum, and creating complementary teams.
Need help to support one of your managers or build a complementary team? The Iceberg Management team has a powerful toolbox to develop the full potential of your workforce.
